MIGA

Manifesto

MIGA, which stands for ‘Make Internet Great Again’ (and winks at Argentina’s iconic sándwich de miga), was born from the idea of going back to the basics of the internet.

  • We propose reviving the era when the internet was a habitable place, where you could visit a website and spend hours learning about something that interested you.
  • The internet where you decided when it started and when it ended; you sat at the computer that probably occupied a central place in your house, at a weird desk with a sliding tray for a giant, loud white keyboard. You opened a can of Pepsi, grabbed some Pringles, and entered a private world of infinite exploration.
  • The internet where you spent hours talking on forums about a niche you didn’t even know existed a few minutes ago—one you thought you were the only person in the world interested in.
  • The internet of clear goals: connect, share, teach.
  • The authentic internet, made by users, for users.
  • The internet from before Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman dictated what user interfaces should look like and what the “correct” way to browse was.
  • The autarkic, almost anarchist internet, made of seeds scattered across the world, connecting with one another.
  • The internet before it became a collection of commoditized templates, sorted chronologically.
  • The real internet, far removed from today’s algorithmic manipulation.
  • We want to go back to the authentic internet.
